Thirteen Persons Hospitalised As Explosion Rocks Akure

At least 13 persons have been rushed to the hospital after a deadly explosion hit Akure, Ondo State, on Saturday morning. 
      

The impact of the explosion destroyed houses and tore major roads apart. 
A truck carrying explosive items to a quarry was said to have triggered the blast.

Residents of the affected area are currently in disarray over the incident. 
Government officials have visited the area and are currently ascertaining the level of damage

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to sign the Not Too Young To Run Bill in the coming days. Buhari made this promise on Tuesday during a nationwide broadcast in commemoration of the nation’s Democracy Day. “In few days to come, I will be joined by many promising young Nigerians to sign into law the ‘Not too young to run’ bill,” he said. Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi says he will pay all salary arrears of civil servants cleared and the pension arrears of retirees before the end of 2017. Bello also said that he would commence prompt payment of salaries of workers in the state public service from January 2018. He made the promise on Saturday at the commemoration of the 110th birthday of the Odeyani-Anebira, Alhaji Audu Otonoku and his eight years on the throne as the Otonoku in Lokoja. “As from January next year, we shall be paying all our cleared civil servants salaries as and when due." “I want to appreciate God that good days are coming to the people of Kogi,” he said.
