A close ally of the former Governor disclosed this to Sahara Reporters on the phone few minutes ago in Akure, the state capital. "He is currently in Abuja as I talk to you and will be racing under the banner of the Labour Party (LP); many of his supporters are already with him at the national secretariat. The last time we spoke on phone, he (Mimiko) said he decided to throw his hat into the ring, having examined the state of this nation on bad economy, insecurity and lack of purposeful leadership in the nation and he is dare to make a difference." He further explained that the former Ondo State Governor would begin a tour for campaign anytime soon. SaharaReporters also learnt from a Labour Party (LP) executive that the former Governor is now in Abuja at the party's secretariat. "We just heard a meeting now with the former Ondo state governor and he has shown his real commitment to the presidential race," the source said. "So, Dr. Mimiko is now at the Labour Party's secretariat here in Abuja to announce his declaration for the presidential race and where he will also collect his expression of form of interest from our leaders." In June, Mimiko resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
