Photos: Fire Destroys Popular Kenyan Second- Hand Clothes Market

This morning, a huge fire broke out at Kenya's Gikomba market where firefighters tried to contain the blaze at the popular second-hand market. Local media reports that the fire started early on Friday morning and immediately, city authorities appealed to private operators of fire engines to assist in putting out the fire. Gikomba is a popular second-hand clothes market but is also renowned as the centre of the capital's informal economy, attracting a diverse number of traders. Following the fire, one trader said he had lost 250 bales of clothing, worth an estimated 23,000 (£17,600). A Kenyan radio station is however reporting that a government minister has said that the fire could be as a result of arson. See more photos below...

Thirteen Persons Hospitalised As Explosion Rocks Akure

At least 13 persons have been rushed to the hospital after a deadly explosion hit Akure, Ondo State, on Saturday morning.         The impact of the explosion destroyed houses and tore major roads apart.  A truck carrying explosive items to a quarry was said to have triggered the blast. According to TMZ reports, Charles Manson -- the man who masterminded one of the most heinous murder sprees in American history - - is dead . . . this according to the sister of his famous victim . Debra Tate tells TMZ she received a call from the prison telling her Manson died 8: 13 PM Sunday . We' re told the prison is contacting all of the victims ' families . More Nigerians Return From Libyan "Slave Camps"

Another set of Nigerians numbering 164 (158 males and 6 females) returned to the country from Libya in the early hours of Friday, December 8th, 2017. The returnees, who left the country through irregular travel routes and mostly through human trafficking voluntarily returned to the country and were received by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) and International Organization for Migration (IOM). The newest set of returnees landed at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) aboard a Libyan registered aircraft at about 12.40am.
